Almost a Fantasy

Almost a Fantasy
by Caroline Lynch

Caroline Lynch’s hilariously absurd melodrama Almost a Fantasy premiered at Galway Theatre Festival 2011 at Nun’s Island Theatre. Taking its title from the original name for Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Almost A Fantasy is a black comedy where an amnesiac bride, a jilted chambermaid and a man called George form an unlikely threesome. With a fine cast featuring Helen Gregg (Electric Bridget), Martin Maguire (Onegin, Galway Theatre Festival 2010) and Caroline Lynch (Mephisto), they grapple with Beethoven, fruit hampers, and the weird psychiatry of marriage.

Caroline Lynch, a founder member of Mephisto, is an accomplished actress and has performed in many of our productions as well as directing Grenades and The Honey Spike. She holds an MA in Writing from NUI, Galway. In 2007 she won the Listowel Poetry Collection Competition and Salmon Poetry published her book, Lost in the Gaeltacht.
